How to Login to FIS 7.0
NOTE: Instructions below are effective beginning Tuesday, 2/19/2008.
- Open a browser window.
- Navigate to fis.ucsc.edu
- Click on the FIS icon (Banana Slug picture.)

- BE PATIENT! The first time you connect to FIS Banner 7, many small configuration files need to be initialized on your workstation. This may take a minute or more.
- A webpage with a Stop Sign image will appear. As in FIS Banner 6, This webpage is a “placeholder” for your FIS session. It must stay open for the duration of your FIS session. If it is closed, your FIS session will close as well.
- A “Warning – Security” window may appear confirming whether you want to run the application.

This message appears because Oracle Corporation is not in the “Trusted Publisher” list on your workstation.
PC Users: Click the checkbox adjacent to “Always trust content from this publisher, then click the Run button.
Mac Users: Click the “Show Certificate” button, then click the checkbox adjacent to “Always trust these certificates.”
- In a few seconds, another window will open containing a Logon box prompting for Username, Password and Database.

IF THE LOGON BOX DOES NOT APPEAR after 90 seconds or so, there may be a problem with your Java Plug-in or Browser configuration. Please review those instructions (links at left); contact us at fis_probs@ucsc.edu if the problem continues after you've reviewed your settings.
- Enter your Username then press TAB to advance to the Password field.
- Enter your confidential password.
- Do NOT update the Database field; it should read BPRD.
- Click the Connect button.
- If you receive the error: “ORA-1017: invalid username/password; logon denied”, click OK and try again. If the error persists, contact us at fis_probs@ucsc.edu for assistance.
- Once your username and password have been authenticated, the FIS Banner 7 main menu will appear.:

- If the main menu does not appear, or if you receive any type of error message, please contact us at fis_probs@ucsc.edu for assistance.
