New Features in FIS Banner 8

Most of the changes in FIS Banner 8 are behind-the-scenes. However, there are a small handful of new features to the FIS application itself, which will hopefully help improve efficiency and user satisfaction.

New feature list:

Increased Field Size
Status Indicators Spelled Out
New Status Indicators Added
New Query Fields Added
FPACHAR NXT is now NEXT

Increased Field Size

Many fields in FIS Banner 8 forms have been increased in size to allow more information to be entered. For example, the FZAJVCD-Journal Voucher Entry form amount field now permits entries up to 17 digits, while Banner 7 permitted only 12 digits.

.

The FYAINVE-Invoice/Credit Memo form Unit Price field on regular invoices now displays prices up to 4 decimal places, while Banner 7 was limited to displaying only 2 decimal places.

.

.

Status Indicators Spelled Out

Many form status indicators that were one or two-character codes in Banner 7 are now spelled out in Banner 8 for increased usability. For example, in the FZAJVCD-Journal Voucher Entry form, the detail record Debit/Credit and Status indicators were single characters in Banner 7 but are now spelled out in Banner 8.

.

.

New Status Indicators Added

Many forms in Banner 8 have new status indicators to assist in data analysis. For example, the FGIENCD-Detail Encumbrance Activity form now has new “O”pen / “C”losed indicator for each sequence number on a PO, not just the PO as a whole as in Banner 7.

.

.

New Query Fields Added

New fields have been added to some Banner 8 forms to faciliate data querying. For example, the FGITRND-Detail Transaction Activity form has a new Transaction Date column permitting queries based on transaction date.

.

.

FPACHAR 'NXT' is now 'NEXT'

In FPACHAR-Change Order form you can now type NEXT instead of NXT to generate the next change order sequence for a PO.
